Position Overview:

The Health Economist will be responsible for providing economic insights, pricing strategies, and value assessments to support partnering, licensing, and R&D investment decisions within a NYSE-listed biotechnology company. This role will leverage expertise in health economics, outcomes research, and pharmaceutical pricing to inform deal-making, optimize development strategy, and demonstrate the commercial potential of the company’s portfolio. The Health Economist will collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure that pipeline and partnered assets are positioned for strong market access, reimbursement, and long-term value creation.

Key Responsibilities:

Economic & Pricing Strategy

  • Conduct health economic modeling (HEOR/HTA) to evaluate pricing potential, cost-effectiveness, and market access opportunities for pipeline and partnered products.

  • Develop pricing forecasts and value propositions to support deal negotiations, out-licensing, and partnership discussions.

  • Assess the financial and reimbursement landscape across key global markets (US, EU, Asia-Pacific).

Deal Support & Partnering

  • Provide economic due diligence for potential in-licensing and out-licensing deals.

  • Collaborate with Business Development to evaluate the commercial viability of R&D programs and partnership opportunities.

  • Present health economic analyses in partner meetings, investor discussions, and negotiations to strengthen company positioning.

Research & Development Support

  • Advise R&D teams on trial design and endpoints relevant to health technology assessments (HTA), payer requirements, and reimbursement strategies.

  • Generate models to evaluate budget impact, cost offsets, and real-world evidence in support of regulatory and market submissions.

  • Support CMC, clinical, and medical teams by aligning development programs with market access expectations.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Engage with government agencies, payers, and insurers to understand evolving pricing and reimbursement trends.

  • Represent the company at industry conferences, HTA forums, and economic policy meetings.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with finance, regulatory, and commercial teams to integrate health economics into strategic planning.
